SILVATAI

Adventure · Full Day

Private Cave Kayak Journey.

The Experience

A river through the jungle. A mountain full of caves.

North of Chiang Mai, the Chiang Dao Valley holds two of northern Thailand’s quiet wonders: the Ping River winding through bamboo jungle, and a sacred mountain honeycombed with ancient caverns. This journey gives you both in one unhurried day.

The morning belongs to the water — hours of gentle paddling beneath overhanging trees, past birdlife and grazing water buffalo, far from any road. The current does most of the work; your guide handles the rest. Swim when you feel like it.
After a long Thai lunch by the river, you walk into the Chiang Dao cave system with a local guide — an hour by lamplight through formations carved over millions of years, before the passage opens into the great lit chambers.
